HeroesCon 2023: Bringing out the Comic All-Stars

One of the biggest draws of any comic convention is the guest list. When you put together a massive amount of comic creators, the fans will show up. Heroes Aren't Hard to Find is doing exactly that with HeroesCon 2023. This is setting up to be one of the best shows of the year. Which is why I'll be making my first trip to this con that's been highly regarded by many in the comic community.

With so much talent on hand, I can't give them all love, but I wanted to highlight some of the creators who will be at HeroesCon. The sheer breadth of talent on deck for fans to interact with is sure to bring in plenty of fans. From relative newcomers to legendary industry veterans, it's going to make for a quite the show.

As I'm posting this after the news came out about the passing of the iconic John Romita Sr. (R.I.P.), we know John Romita Jr. has cancelled his appearance at the show. Condolences to his family and friends at they face this.

Some of my other personal highlights include Chris Claremont, Tim Townsend and Randy Emberlin. I packed several comics I'm hoping to get signed by them. Claremont needs no introduction. Fans know the name. And when you hear it, you're sure to think of the X-Men, and vice versa.

Previously signed by Jim Lee.

Townsend and Emberlin occupy a similar space. Both are incredibly talented inkers and well beloved by fans and pros alike. And it's the role of inker that continues to seemingly be underappreciated. All we can do is continue to sing their praises. Townsend, along with Chris Bachalo, comprise one of my favorite art teams in comics. I finally got to meet Bachalo a couple years ago. Now I can add Townsend to several comics I had Bachalo sign.

A second set I have framed with their wraparound covers laid out.

I'm hoping to add Emberlin's signature to a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #361, previously signed by Mark Bagley. This is the book in which he helped bring my favorite (and the best) symbiote to life.

Going back to the range of talent the guest list features, there are industry vets such as Roy Thomas, Jim Shooter, Brian Stelfreeze, Laura Martin, Al Milgrom, Larry Hama, Ron Garney and Howard Mackie, among (MANY) others. Then there are creators who've gained followings in recent years with the likes of Sanford Greene, David Nakayama, Tula Lotay, Tradd Moore and Rico Renzi. I know, it isn't fair I didn't shout out everyone, but that would just be a retread of the HeroesCon website. Speaking of which...

Head over to the HeroesCon guest list page to see the rest of the talent that will be in attendance over the course of what should be an amazing weekend. HeroesCon 2023 takes place this weekend, June 16th-June 18th. See you there!
